VENNILA KABBADI KUZHU TAMIL CINEMA REVIEW

A new entry to Tamil Cinema. After all those mindless action mass masalas dished out in the recent past, debutant director Susindhran’s Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu is refreshingly fresh and innovative.
The Tamil film has a tight script but does not break new ground, nor does it tell a dramatically different story. But what it does have is a very clean screenplay with all the typical elements of a good film of sports.
The Kabbadi coach played by Kishore, may be unconventional from what the tamil actor has played so far. But as an inspiring coach who can make a bunch of guys from a small town forget their differences and play as a team is a revelation. The first rule Mr. Coach teaches the boys is to fight against all odds, religion and rejects in life to triumph in the end.
In fact, Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu has traces of Director Shimit Amin’s Chak De India with Tamil nativity and a game that is hugely popular in rural Tamilnadu. There is a set-up, a build-up and truly stunning twist in the tamil cinema’s climax. The story is executed neatly with the right elements in place and hence the film goes perfectly.
In fact, the plot and the screenplay of Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu is a no-brainer, it is designed to be a crowd-pleaser from the very word go – there’s the basic underdog story at the core, there is soft romance thrown in, pleasing and melodious songs and an excellent background score (debut V. Selvaganesh). On the downside the first half is a bit slow and predictable, the Thiruvizha scenes and the milieu, looks familiar and has traces of some recent Tamil Films.
How can you not root for an underdog team of simple, uneducated group of youngsters who are ridiculed by their respective families? Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu is a compelling film to watch and much of its charm lies in the fresh lead pair, the bunch of simple villagers who are so lovable and endearing. The comedy track is part of the film and is thoroughly enjoyable like the newly married pencil thin guy who gorges Parottas by the dozens.
Kishore is the scene stealer and has done his job neat and very convincingly. New face Vishnu is promising as he gets his emotions correct. Saranya is cute and her expressive eyes says it all. All the new guys in the Kabbadi team are simply too good.
On the whole, this tamil film will surely keep you glued to your seat because the match scenes look real and edge of the seat. It is a sports film in the true spirit and if even if you are not a fan of Kabbadi game, it’s unlikely that the film will bore you because it is fast paced with a racy lead to an unexpected and stunning climax.
In short, go for it !!!

“புத்தரின் பெயரால்(in the name of Buddha)”.. இந்த ஆங்கில  திரைப்படம் இந்தியாவில் தடை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஈழத்தில் நடந்தேறி வரும் இன படுகொலைகளையை அப்பட்டமாக காட்சியாக்கி, அதன் அவலங்களையும், வலிகளையும் மையமாக கொண்டது இத்திரைப்படம்.  இது மாதிரி உலக அளவில் சத்யம்  பேசும் படங்கள் எல்லாம்  காங்கிரஸ் கோமாளிகள் பெரியக்கதுக்கு பிடிக்காது அல்லவா! இரண்டு அயல் விருதுகளை பெற்ற “in the name of Buddha”  திரைபடத்தை எடுத்தவர், ஒரு கேரளத்தை சேர்ந்த இந்தியர், பெயர் ராஜேஷ் டச்ரிவேர்.

கதை.. தமிழ் படித்த டாக்டர் சிவா என்பவர் பிரிட்டன் விமான நிலையத்தில் போய் இறங்குகிறார், சரியான சான்றிதழ்களும், தகவல்களும் இல்லாமல் பிரித்தானிய தூதரகத்தில் சிக்கி கொள்கிறார்.. அவரிடம் காரணம் கேட்கும் வயதான தூதரக அதிகாரியின் கண்கள் விரிவடைவது மட்டுமல்ல, நமது கண்களும் அதிர்ச்சியில் நீர்வீழ்ச்சியாகிறது.. ஈழத்தின் கொடுமைகள் காட்சியாகிறது.. கடைசியில்…பிரித்தானிய அரசியல் அகதி என தூதரக அதிகாரி டாக்டர் சிவாவுக்கு அகதிகள் முகாமின் சேர அனுமதி எண் வழங்குகிறார். படம் முடிக்கிறது! நம் மனதில் கவலைகள் மேலும் படர்கிறது!

கலைஞனுக்கு  ஜாதி, மொழி, நாடு என்று எந்த அடையாளமும்  கிடையாது.. வாழ்க்கை பயணத்தில் தான் பார்த்த அழகான அல்லது அழுக்கான விஷயங்களை, தன்  கலை வல்லமையின் வாயிலாக  கட்டாயம் பதிவு செய்து காலத்திடம் ஒப்படைத்து விடுவான், அவன் ஒரு கட்டத்தில் நின்றுவிட்டாலும்.. அவன் கலை தொடர்ந்து பயணித்து கொண்டே இருக்கும் காலத்தின் பதிவுகளில்.

அப்படி மலர்ந்து வரும் வல்லரசு இந்தியாவின் இன்னும் வளராத ஒரு தாழ்வான பக்கத்தினை இந்தியரான விகாஸ்  ஸ்வருப், தன் எழுத்துகளால் பதிவு செய்த Q&A  எனும் நாவலை பிரிட்டனின் பிரபல இயங்குனர் டேனி பாயல் அழகாவே  Slumdog Millionare ராக  படம் பித்து, உலகின் கவனத்தை  ஈர்த்து விட்டார் என்று சொல்லியே ஆகா வேண்டும். Fox Searchlight Pictures தாயரித்த இந்த ஆங்கில படம் தற்போது உலக சினிமா அவார்டுகளை அள்ளிக்கொண்டு இருக்கிறது!

இந்தியா எப்போதுமே  இப்படி வறுமையான வாழ்வியலையும்  கொண்டது தான் என்று இந்த படம் நேரடியாக உலகுக்கு உரக்க சொன்னாலும், இந்த படத்தின் மூலம் இந்தியாவின் கலை திறமையும், கலாசார ரசனையும் மீண்டும் மேற்கத்தியவர்கள் பரவலாக ரசிக்க தொடங்கிவிட்டனர்  என்றும் சொல்ல வேண்டும். அவர்களுக்கு எப்போதுமே பார்வை கோளாறு.. அவர்களின் பார்வைகள் அப்படி தான்..

அதை விட்டு விட்டு,  அவர்கள் போட்டு  கொடுத்த கலை தடத்தை பயன்படுத்தி நம்மவர்கள்  முயற்சி செய்தால், இன்று  கமர்ஷியல் சினிமாக்களில் மட்டும் கொடிகட்டி பறக்கும் நமது  சினிமா, நாளை ஈரானிய சினிமாவுக்கு போட்டியாக இந்திய சினிமா உலக சினிமாவை அதிர வைக்கும் என்பது நிகழ கூடிய உண்மை.

கதை..
இந்தியாவில் நம் எல்லோருக்கும்  பரிச்சயமான கோன் பநேகா க்ரோர்பதி ( Who wants to be a millionare? ) நிகழ்ச்சியில் பங்கேற்க்கும் ஜமால் என்கின்ற மும்பை சேரி வாழ் இளைஞன்,  எவ்வாறு போட்டியின் ஒவ்வொரு கடினமான  கேள்விகளுக்கும், தன் வாழ்கையில் நடந்த நிகழ்வுகளை தொடர்புடுத்தி, அதனுள் எதிர்பாராமல் ஒளிந்திருந்த வார்த்தைகளை ஞாபகப்படுத்தி  பதில் அளிக்கிறான் என்பது தான்.

இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் எப்போதுமே பங்கேற்கும் போட்டியாளரும், பார்வையாளர்களும்  படபடத்து போய் காண்பது போட்டியின் வாடிக்கையான விஷயம், ஆனால் படத்தில் தொகுப்பாளர் ஜமாலின் பதில்களை கண்டு அதிர்ச்சியில் தத்ருபமாக உறைந்து படபடக்கிறார்.

ஒரு கட்டத்தில் கால் சென்டரில்  டி வாங்கி கொடுக்கும் வேலை பார்ப்பதாக சொல்லிக்கொள்ளும் ஜமால், எவ்வாறு எல்லா கேள்விக்கும் எளிதாக பதில் அளித்து கொண்டு இருக்கிறானே?.. எதோ ஏமாற்று வேலை நடக்கிறது!  என்கிற சந்தேகத்தில் நிகழ்ச்சியின் தொகுப்பாளர் பிரேம் குமார் (அனில் கபூர் ), கடைசி கேள்விக்கு பதிலளிக்கும் முன் காவல் துறைக்கு  விஷயத்தை தெரியப்படுத்துக்கிறார். இந்திய காவல்துறை வந்து.. எவ்வாறு விசாரிக்கும் என்று தான் அனைவருக்கும் தெரியுமே. காவல் துறை அதிகாரியாக வரும் இர்பான் கான் தன் கடமையை தவறாமல் செய்கிறார். அவர் ஜமாலுக்கு கொடுக்கும் third டிகிரி  கொடுமைகள் நமக்கு ஷாக் அடித்து வலிக்கிறது.

விசாரணையில் அவன் விவரிக்கும் சம்பவங்களும்.. கொடுமையான அனுபவங்களும்.. அவையனைத்தும் நிகழ்ச்சியின் சாதரண கேள்வி பதில்களுக்குள் எதிர்பாராமல் சிக்கி இருப்பதையும், அந்நிலையிலும்  உண்மையை எனும் ஒரே உடமையை தாங்கி அவன் வாழ்ந்திருப்பதையும்  உணர்ந்த  காவல்துறை அதிகாரி கான், ஜமாலை விடுதலை செய்கிறார்.

விசாரணை முடிந்து, குற்றவாளியில்லை என நிரூபணமாகி,  மீண்டும்  நிகழ்ச்சியின்  கடைசி கேள்விக்கு பதில் அளிக்க வருகையில் … கடைகள் …வீடுகள்…பரபரக்கும் வீதியென ..மும்பை நகரமே  மட்டுமல்லாது இந்தியாவே  டிவி முன் சரண் அடைந்து நிற்கிறது…  டிராபிக்  சிக்னலில் ஜமால் காவல்துறை ஜீப்பில் அமர்ந்து இருப்பதை கண்டு  அவனின் சமுதாய அடையாளங்களான  சேரி மக்கள் “உன்னால் முடியும்,ஜமால்”, என ஆசிர்வதிக்கும் காட்சியை பார்க்கும் போது  நம் கண்களும் நனைகிறது. சபாஷ்! டைரக்டர் சார்!

மூன்று பருவங்களை முன்னுருத்தி கதை நகர்வதால் அதற்கான வயதிலேயே சிறுவர்களையும் சிறுமிகளையும் மற்றும் நடிகர் நடிகையையும் தேர்ந்தெடுத்து நடிக்கவைத்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

ஜமால் ..இந்த கதாபாத்திரத்தை  தாங்கி வாழ்ந்த சிறுவர்கள் அனுஷ், தனே ஹேமந்த் முதல் இளைஞர் தேவ் படேல்வரையிலான நடிகர்கள் என்று சொல்லுவதே தவறு!…அனைவரும் மனதில் இணைந்தே விட்டார்கள்.. அவர்கள் காட்டிய ஏக்கம், சோகம்,சிறுவயதிலிரிந்தே லத்திகாவின் மீது இழையோடிய காதல், அண்ணனின் தூரோகத்தை  மன்னிக்காத  வேகம்,  காவல் துறை அதிகாரியிடம் சிக்கி சித்தரவதை படும் வேதனை, கடைசியாக தொகுப்பாலரின் கேள்விகளை எதிர்கொளும் நம்பிக்கை என் அடுக்கிக்கொண்டே போகலாம்… அவர்கள் வெளிக்காட்டிய எண்ணற்ற உணர்வுகுகள் நம்மை ஜமாலுக்கு ஆதரவாக கதைக்குள் கட்டி போடுகிறது.

அதே போன்று லத்திகாவாய் வரும் பெண்கள்  ருபினா அலி, தன்வி கணேஷ்,  பிரெய்தா பின்டோ மூவரும்  தங்கள் சூழ்நிலைகளுக்கு கைதியாகி ஒவ்வோறு  முறையும் சிதைந்து    மீண்டு வெளிவரும் இடங்களில் நம்மை பரிதவிக்க வைத்திருகிறார்கள் .

அடுத்து அண்ணன்  சலீம் மாக வரும் சிறுவர்களும், நடிகரும்(அஸாருதின் முகமத், அஷுடோஷ், மதுர் மித்தல்)  சின்ன  வயதிலேயே வில்லத்தனமும், அசட்டு சிரிப்புடன் செய்யும் கலவாணித்தனமும்,  பேராசையும், கிரோத மும் பிறகு பாசத்துடன் தம்பியுடன் லத்திகாவை சேர்க்கும் தருணங்களில்லும் அசத்தி விட்டனர். படத்தில் சிறு காட்சிகலாயினும் வந்து போன அனைத்து நடிகர்களும் அவ்வாறே!

இசை ஏ. ஆர். ரஹ்மான்.. மேற்கத்தியவர்கள் தான் டார்கேட்  என்பதால் அவர்களுக்கு பிடிக்கும் வண்ணம்,  மனுஷன் மேற்கத்திய hiphopping இசையோடு  சம்பிரதயதுக்காக இந்திய மற்றும் பாரசீக இசையையும் கலந்தடித்து கவரத்தான் செய்கிறார். படத்தின் காட்சியமைப்புகள் காண்டிட் ஸ்டைலில் ஆண்டனி டொட்  மென்ட்லின்   ஒளிப்பதிவு பயணிப்பதால் அவருக்கு அதிகம் வேலை கொடுக்கவில்லை என்பது தான் உண்மை. ரஹ்மானை விட இதில் மியா இசையமைத்த Paper Planes மற்றும் ஒ சாயா பாடலும்  தான் மேற்கத்தியவர்களிடம்  அதிகமாக கவரப்படுள்ளது. ரஹ்மானை பொறுத்தவரை மொசம்-எஸ்கேப் இசையில் மெதுவாக மெருகேறி அதிக தாள தட்டில் சிதார் இசை தப்பிப்பது போன்ற இசை சேர்ப்பு அருமை, கடைசியாக படத்தில் வரும்  ஜெய் ஹோ! பாடல் யாரையும் ஆட்டம் போட வைத்துவிடும்.

SlumDog Millionare..

திரைக்கதையின் பயணமும்…அதனை பதிந்த விதமும் பார்வையாளர்களை பதப்பதைக்கும் மனதோடு சீட்டின் நுனியில் கனத்த மனதுடன்  அமர வைத்து விடுக்கிறது..

படமே விசாரணையில் தொடங்குவதால், ஜமால் தான் பதிலளித்த பின்னணியை சொல்லும் போது..  அனைத்து பதில்களுக்கும்,  அவன் வாழ்கையில் நடந்த ஒரு நிகழ்வை நோக்கி, non linear narative என்ற திரை மொழியின் கிளை காட்சிக்குள் புகுந்து, அவனின் ஒவ்வொரு அனுபவத்தையும் சொல்ல  பயணிக்கிறது சிமோன் பியூபோவின் அருமையான  திரைக்கதை. அதனை டாக்குமென்றி  பாதிப்பில் உண்மையாக நடந்தேறி இருக்கும் என்ற நம்பும்  தோணியில், சில உண்மையான மும்பை கலவரங்களையும் சேர்த்து  காட்சிகளில், சேரி வாழ்வியலையும், அதன் பாதிப்புகளையும், நிகழ்கால கேள்வி பதில் நிகழ்ச்சியோடு  இணைத்து  காட்சியாக வரைந்திருக்கிறார் இயக்குனர் டேனி பாயல்.

மனிதனின் நினைவுகள்..எப்போதும் இழப்புகளை மிக ஆழமாக பதிவு செய்துவிடும் என்ற இயற்கையின் எதார்த்தத்தை தாண்டி, தன் வழக்கமான ஹாப்பி எண்டிங் பார்முலாவை மீண்டும் பயன்படுத்தி மிக ஆழமாக..எதார்த்தமாக.. அழகாக ஞாபகமாக்குகிறார் இயக்குனர் டேனி பாயல் என்று அட்டகாசமாய் வாழ்த்துகிறார் நம் தர டிக்கெட் SlumDog Millionare படம் முடிந்து வெளியே வரும்போது!

NAAN KADAVUL – TAMIL MOVIE AUDIO REVIEW

Nan Kadavul Tamil Cinema Music Review

With Nan Kadavul, Ilayaraja takes us through a journey of devotional music!!! The divinity in Nan Kadavul songs pierce the hearts of the listeners!

Om Siva Om, sung by Vijay Prakash, is a kind of devotional song with Mantras on Lord Shiva. The overall orchestration is mind blowing! And, yes, one gets the feel of going through spiritual tour! Only IR can create this magic!

Shreya Ghosal’s sweet voice aptly suits the mesmerizing melody “Kannil Paarvai”. Starting with a solo violin prelude that conveys a lot of emotion, the song is so soothing to ears.

Equally good is Ilayaraja’s “Oru Kaatril” (another version of “Kannil Parvai” with different lyrics)!

Sadhana Sargam’s vocal adds more charm to “Amma Un Kovil” song. A neat melody!

Madhumitha’s “Madha un Kovil” is good, but is too short to make any impact!

”Pichai Paathiram”, the song that was composed for Ilayaraja’s devotional album “Raman Malai” has been reused. This time song sung by Madhu Balakrishnan. One gets the feel of listeneing to the devotional song of KJ Yesudoss, when listening to this song. Madhu’s voice sounds very similar to KJ Yesudoss’s voice in this particular song! Laudable!

Overall, the albums gives us a feel of touring to some spiritual places!!! Ilayaraja all the way!!!

Aishwarya Signs TAMIL CINEMA ‘ROBOT’ for Rs.1.5 Cr

As it was affirmed that Shankar is in Mumbai reciting the story of Robot to Aiswarya Rai, lastly he could be successful in pursuin her in representing her services for the film as leading actress. She has nodded to act in this celebrated assignment, she happens to be Miss World and companion of Abhishek Bachan going to act for Rs.100 Cr. budget movie.

She has signed contract for a payment of Rs.1.5 Cr., she would be acting with Tamil Cinema Super Star Rajnikanth, this science fiction flick is created by London Karunas of Ayngaran worldwide which would be made consecutively in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Creator Shankar, who is set to make the major film in Indian record, informed that the heading of the mega project featuring the superstar Rajinikanth would be changed in outstanding course. He informed this during talking about the film in an meeting given to a TV channel on the eve of Pongal festival.

The buzzing is that the State Government’s conclusion to offer tax-exemption to movies titled in Tamil is the cause that this name modification might come through. The Tamil film producers and directors are these days found with Tamil dictionary to decide Tamil titles for their films to gain this concession.

On a 100 crore resources, Robot movie will absolutely need the amusement tax-exemption. There was also a dispute over the title of Shivaji, if it was a Tamil name or not. This may not work out for Robot, or will they add Robot to Tamil dictionary as well and offer amusement tax exemption? Only time can say!!

The film will be the richest film in terms of particular effects. The extraordinary effects will be the highlights of the science fiction film, informed the director. According to him, the job for the special effects would necessitate much time, almost identical to that of making a movie.
The director said the shooting of the film will begin after July; after Rajini’s latest Tamil Movie “Kuselan” shooting is finished.

SHANKAR’S NEW TAMIL MOVIE ‘ROBOT’

The Rumors appears to be turning into details as the news of Superstar Rajinikanth teaming up with dream squad Shankarand A R Rahman makes the rounds of the business.

Primary Tamil director Shankar has signed on Rajnikanth , clean from the stupendous achievement of his latest movie Sivaji, for his next assignment titled Robot. Firstly, any movie starring the South’s supreme superstar gets traded as soon as it is proclaimed, and for whopping sums at that, so the manager with a penchant for huge budgets will have all the cash he wants to gamble with.

Additional, Shankar — fresh from his triumphant partnership with Rajni on Sivaji — plans to make the movie consecutively in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and probably Malayalam, thus opening up additional areas of the country to utilize.
